An tasting evening to discover Rocheville’s new vintages
On December 2nd, book your evening. The winery Domaine de Rocheville invites you to taste its Crémant de Loire, Saumur Blanc and Saumur Champigny appellation wines. Fine, elegant wines, aged in stainless steel vats or in barrels, on long and artisanal maturation, made with love and passion.
Chenin and Cabernet Franc : two great Loire grape varieties
In the heart of the Saumur Champigny vineyards, Domaine de Rocheville produces wines from two emblematic grape varieties of the Loire Valley: Chenin Blanc, for the still and sparkling white wines, and Cabernet Franc, for the reds and rosés.
Also known as Pineau de Loire, Chenin brings freshness and elegance to our white wines, accompanied by a chiselled and mineral character in the mouth. Its aromatic palette is surprisingly rich. Its neighbour, Cabernet Franc, is distinguished by its suppleness and fruitiness, with hints of red fruit in its younger years.
In Rocheville, the plots of land benefit from a great diversity of terroirs. They are mainly composed of clay-limestone soils. The Cabernet Franc reveals all its aromatic expressions and its beautiful balance.
From 2019, certified organic Loire wines
After three years of conversion to organic farming (2016-2018), the range of our wines is now enriched with new vintages, organic certified from 2019 and suitable for all palates.
Come and discover our Saumur Blancs matured in barrels (La Jouvencelle, La Dame, Le Clos de la Thibaudière), and our Saumur Champigny, either light and fruity, to accompany convivial meals (Le Page, Le Prince), or full-bodied to celebrate special occasions (Le Roi and Le Fou du Roi)
A vertical tasting to compare two vintages
The end of the year celebrations are also an opportunity to offer for tasting some older vintages which express all the beauty of their grape variety after several years of ageing in troglodytic cellars.
You will be able to compare certain vintages in the company of the winemaker, appreciate their mature aromas and judge their potential for evolution.
A new wine to discover in preview !
We are all familiar with barrel ageing, as the oak adds woody notes and reinforces the structure of the wine.
Recently, we tried a new experiment at the winery. A unique and original cuvée, a red wine aged in stoneware eggs made in Limoges. Ceramic is an interesting material because it is denser and less porous thanks to its high temperature cooking.
The winemaker is constantly looking for the expression of the terroir in the production of his wines, which is what ageing in stoneware eggs can provide.
Eggs can be kept for many years, unlike barrels. Their ovoid shape creates a vortex that favours micro-oxygenation of the wine and further develops its fruity character.
Come and taste our new vintage Les Hauts de Bourreau 2018, in AOP Saumur Champigny, for sale only at the estate.
This is a plot-based cuvée made from old vines planted on the Parnay plateau and aged in stoneware eggs for 15 months. Gourmet and aromatic, Les Hauts de Bourreau expresses notes of ripe fruit, it is supple and long-lasting in the mouth.
A gourmet tasting of wine for the festive season
The winemaker Philippe Porché and his team will be present to let you taste the new Rocheville wines exclusively. Throughout the evening, you will have the opportunity to combine your glass of wine with an assortment of cheeses and charcuterie to please your taste buds.
The appetizers will be paired with our selection of wines, the opportunity to make great discoveries.
Art and wine: the opening of Npier’s photo exhibition
In order to combine the pleasure of the eyes with that of the palate, this evening will also be the occasion to celebrate, with a glass of Crémant de Loire in hand, the opening of the latest photo exhibition by the artist Npier entitled “Mutatis Mutandis”.
Hanging on the walls of the large tasting room, photos of old buildings discreetly accompany, on the theme of transformation and the passing of time, the tasting of our old vintages that time has sublimated.
Wine gift ideas
At the end of the tasting, take advantage of our special offers on our finest vintages, valid in the shop only during the evening. It’s time to find great gifts for your loved ones or to accompany your Christmas meal.
Wine boxes, magnums to enhance your festive table, gift cases, you will be spoilt for choice. The entire Rocheville team will also be on hand to advise you on the best way to pair food and wine for the festive season.
