Description

Grape variety
Location
Terroir
The vines take root on a terroir of clayey sands from the Senonian period on limestone parent rock (tufa) from the Cretaceous period, perfect for obtaining a light red wine.
Vine management and harvesting
We have been working in sustainable agriculture since 2005, the year of our first harvest. Our approach was validated in 2011 by obtaining the Terra Vitis environmental label (label for sustainable viticulture). Since 2016, we have moved towards Organic Agriculture and after 3 years of conversion, the Domaine de Rocheville obtained AB certification in 2019.
Our philosophy is to limit yields in order to increase the quality and concentration of the juices (short pruning, disbudding, leaf removal…).
In addition, the soil is worked mechanically. Finally, we work to protect the biodiversity in the vineyards (natural grassing, planting of hedges, shrubs, and roses…) in order to have a living and fertile soil and to favour natural defence aids.
This is how we obtain quality organic wines, respectful of nature and your health.
The vines of Le Page are harvested by hand and give a moderate yield, lower than the average for the appellation, of 50 hl/ha.

Sensory discovery
Appearance
The colour is flattering: deep ruby red with purple tints.
Bouquet
The vinification in stainless steel vats allows the wine to retain all the red fruit aromas (raspberry, blackcurrant,...) characteristic of Saumur Champigny.
Palate
Le Page is a light and fruity Saumur Champigny, offering a pleasant freshness while inviting the gourmandise. Its supple and light tannin gives it a velvety and harmonious taste with a slightly acidic finish.
