Discover Dany Rodriguez’s contemporary abstract painting: a unique signature
Who is Dany Rodriguez?
Dany Charlotte Rodriguez, a French contemporary artist, resides in Saumur, in the Loire Valley.

From figuration to abstraction
After eleven years dedicated to drawing and figurative painting (still lifes, landscapes, portraits created with charcoal, pastel, and acrylic), Dany Rodriguez freed herself from strict traditional codes to explore lyrical abstraction.
This choice was driven by a desire for greater creative freedom.
“I can express myself freely, and the viewer of my paintings can interpret my work as they feel and imagine whatever they wish. Everyone can find their own meaning when observing one of my paintings and let their imagination run wild (their feelings and emotions). Abstraction is an art form that goes beyond the traditional boundaries of figurative art,” she explains.
She followed a similar path in her musical journey. For many years, she studied classical piano, a very demanding discipline. Recently, she turned to jazz piano, which offers her great freedom of interpretation and opens the doors to improvisation.
What techniques does Dany Rodriguez use ?
A self-proclaimed “studio painter,” Dany Rodriguez never paints outdoors. Inspiration comes to her in the silence of her studio.
She particularly likes the quote by Pablo Picasso: “I do not paint what I see, but what I think.”
She creates her works directly on a blank canvas, without any preparatory work. Only the colors are chosen at the outset, knowing that there will be additions and mixes.
However, the artist is convinced that her painting is not entirely instinctive. She asserts that it is her experience in figurative techniques that allows her to create her abstract paintings, expressing her emotions and creativity without constraints.
Her work is distinguished by various techniques (acrylic painting, spalters of different widths, graffiti art spray cans, etc.) and a vibrant palette.

International recognition
Dany Rodriguez is a member of the National Academy of Contemporary Art, and her works, rated by a European art expert, are featured in the Collector’s Guide, attesting to her influence in contemporary art.
Since 2011, she has participated in nearly 80 exhibitions, both solo and group, from Nice to the Netherlands!
An artist’s anecdote: a shared experience
When Dany Rodriguez was asked to tell an anecdote about her life as an artist, she mentioned a young couple who had bought their first painting: “I was touched recently by a young couple who bought an abstract painting from me and said with a big smile: “Madam, this is our first painting”. It was an important purchase for them. You could see their happiness at having bought one of my works on their faces, and I was really moved. I often think about that.
It’s this connection with the audience that gives meaning to his work!

Abstract art: a universal language where shapes and colors speak to the soul
Abstract art is an artistic movement that breaks free from the faithful representation of reality to express emotions, ideas, or concepts through shapes, colors, and textures. It does not seek to imitate nature but to create a unique visual and sensory experience where interpretation becomes personal.
The foundations of abstraction
Freedom from figurative codes: unlike realist art, abstraction rejects recognizable subjects (landscapes, portraits) to explore free compositions.
Emotion first: artists use vibrant palettes and spontaneous gestures to convey states of mind, as did Kandinsky or Pollock.
Abstract art is divided into two major trends:
Lyrical abstraction (Kandinsky, Kupka): gestural expressiveness and chromatic fluidity. This is the style Dany Rodriguez identifies with.
Geometric abstraction (Mondrian, Malevich): rigor of lines and pure forms.
Why is abstract art fascinating ?
Freedom of interpretation
Each viewer projects their emotions and history onto the work, as the artist Âme Sauvage points out: “Abstract art does not tell a story; it inspires one.”
Dialogue between matter and spirit
Techniques such as drip painting (paint projection) or scraping create textures that capture the artist’s raw energy.
Universality
Without specific cultural references, abstract art is accessible to all and transcends linguistic and social boundaries.
By exploring Dany Rodriguez’s colorful abstract art paintings, you will discover the richness and depth of abstract art, an experience that promises to leave a lasting impression.
