For the first time, on the occasion of the All Saints’ Day holidays, Domaine de Rocheville opens its doors at dusk for an original night cellar visit.
A visit to the cellar and winery in chiaroscuro
As the sun sets over Parnay, the Saumur Champigny vines slowly disappear in spectacular shades of red and pink.
Let dusk work its magic on your senses and enjoy a unique experience at Domaine de Rocheville.
Discover the vathouse at dusk
To start the adventure, discover our modern and eco-responsible vathouse. Illuminated in blue, it will fill your eyes! Enjoy a special moment with your guide to learn all about the philosophy of an organic estate and the little secrets of our wines, from the manual harvest to the vinification of the famous grape varietals of the Loire Valley : Chenin and Cabernet Franc. Then go to the ageing rooms where our Saumur Blanc and Saumur Champigny wines are peacefully aged.
Explore the cellars by candlelight
Then continue your visit in the troglodytic cellars of Domaine de Rocheville.
The descent into the cellar (by lift) is ideal to get into the atmosphere.
Fifteen metres down, explore the famous “troglos” of the Saumur region by candlelight. Let the smell of the stone, the coolness of the cellars and the softness of the lighting take over you.
Your guide will introduce you to the mysteries of the formation of tuffeau, the emblematic stone of the Loire Valley, and its influence on the wines. Then he/she will tell you about troglodytism and the traditional method that produces our Crémant de Loire La Favorite.
Blind tasting of wines by the fire
Finally, go back up to the surface for a final sensory experience: a blind tasting of 4 wines from the estate, accompanied by small local bites, will be offered in front of the fireplace.
Can you guess the characteristics of the wines you taste? Red wine, white wine? Aged in oak barrels or in stainless steel tanks? Young wine or wine from old vines?
We hope to see many of you there to share this warm and friendly moment by candlelight, which will awaken your five senses!
