For the first time, Domaine de Rocheville will exhibit at Vitiloire, the festival dedicated to Loire Valley wines and gastronomy, which will take place in Tours on 21 and 22 May 2022. After two years of cancellation due to Covid, we are looking forward to finally being able to participate in this great event!

What is Vitiloire?

Vitiloire is a gourmet and convivial event, held outdoors in the heart of Tours, where the finest AOPs of the Loire Valley have been meeting every year since 2003.

Aimed at private individuals, this epicurean event brings together around 150 exhibitors: winegrowers and food artisans from the departments of the Loire.

Over the course of a weekend, they meet almost 35,000 visitors who have come to discover the 79 AOCs of the Loire Valley and the latest culinary innovations.

Where does Vitiloire take place?

Tours, capital of wine and gastronomy

Renowned for centuries for its mild climate and its art of living, the Touraine region deserves its nickname of “Garden of France”. It is therefore not surprising that the city of Tours, located in the heart of a major French wine region, organizes the Vitiloire festival!

In addition to this privileged location for wine lovers, Tours is also an attractive center for gastronomes. In 2013, the city joined the network of Cities of Gastronomy, like Dijon, Lyon and Paris-Rungis, and the creation of this network materializes the inscription of the “French gastronomic meal” on the UNESCO list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

Parma, official guest of Vitiloire 2022

The 19th edition of the Loire Valley Wines and Gastronomy festival will welcome for the very first time an international guest: the city of Parma.

Why Parma? Because the Italian city, located in the Emilia-Romagna region, which is rich in ancient cultural heritage, has been twinned with Tours since 1976.

To us French, Parma immediately brings to mind ham and Parmesan cheese. Since 2015, it has been the first Italian city to be named a “creative city for gastronomy” by UNESCO (Città Creativa UNESCO per la Gastronomia).

Tours and Parma, close to each other in terms of their architectural heritage and gastronomy, will be combining the know-how of their chefs for the duration of the show, to the delight of Vitiloire visitors.

A rich programme to seduce all palates

The central point of the event, the Gourmet Village, right in the city center, opposite Tours rail station, brings together more than 150 winegrowers and food artisans from the Tours region.

Discover the richness of the Loire terroirs with 79 appellations represented: Muscadet, Coteaux du Layon, Bourgueil, Saumur Champigny, Pouilly Fumé, Chinon, Touraine Chenonceaux, Anjou, Vouvray…

The vineyards of Nantais, Anjou-Saumur, Touraine and Centre Loire will delight wine amateurs with red and white wines, rosés, sweet wines and even sparkling wines.

Chenin, chardonnay, cabernet franc, pinot, gamay… the Loire vineyards offer an infinite number of grape varieties to satisfy all tastes. Your palate will see all the colours!

This is also an opportunity to taste local products such as PDO goat’s cheese or the fouaces, a small traditional bread baked in a wooden oven.

The Chefs’ Pavilion will host 10 Touraine and Italian chefs: Julie Alves, Damien Piochon, Gilles Hémart, Lucie Plisson, Amélie Pashaus and many others will be sharing their know-how.

A photographic exhibition on the animals in the vineyards, produced by the Tours Municipal Archives, will highlight the biodiversity of the vineyard.

Tasting workshops (rare grape varieties, Loire terroirs, etc.), cookery workshops, educational and fun activities around wine, themed tours of Loire wines, a gastronomic restaurant where food and wine pairings will delight your taste buds…

The programme allows everyone, amateur tasters or enthusiasts, Touraineurs or tourists passing through, to spend a convivial and gourmet moment in a friendly atmosphere.
